Biography

The natural world spurs my curiosity. I engage with broad themes across ecology and consider careful field research to be of fundamental value. I have particular interest in applying an evolutionary lens to mountain ecosystems and environmental gradients in order to explore the spatial and temporal dimensions of distribution and diversity trends, climate change response, biodiversity, and nature conservation priorties.

My expertise in plant evolutionary ecology is allied to strong capabilities in field work, laboratory analysis, data skills, and science communication. With professional experience as a Ranger in the Scottish Highlands, I also take interest in the way science informs conservation policy and practice.
